Panama and Norway ratified the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC) few days ago. In addition big flag states like Liberia, Marshall Islands and Bahamas ratified the Convention late 2008.
Scandinavian hotel chain to be ISO 14001 certified
DNV will certify the entire Choice Hotels chain, which has more than 160 hotels in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland. Choice Hotels is the first hotel group in Scandinavia to introduce certification according to the ISO 14001 standard.

The DNV guidelines on lay-up of ships are now ready and available on the DNV website. The guidelines contain both requirements and recommendations for shipowners that are preparing for short or long lay-ups.
